Jelli was founded on the idea that the audio experience could be (and deserved to be) radically improved. In 2009, we launched a platform that allowed radio listeners to crowdsource the broadcast in real-time. With the click of a button, listeners were able to rocket songs to the top and hear them play live on the radio!

User controlled radio was exciting, but in 2012 we uncovered the opportunity to do something even bigger. During a meeting with one of the largest US advertising agencies, we were asked if we could transform our technology into a server for radio ads. This was the beginning of our software as it is today. These small steps led to giant leaps and today our technology platform RadioSpot is used by 2,300+ radio stations and our programmatic DSP, SpotPlan reaches over 245 million listeners per month, and our self-serve audio advertising solution for small businesses, iHeart AdBuilder, is available across the US.

After a decade of transforming audio, Jelli was acquired in December of 2018 by iHeartMedia, the leading audio company in America, reaching 9 out of 10 Americans every month. Jelli continues to operate as a company within iHeartMedia led by Torsten Schulz, Jelli’s General Manager and Chief Product Officer.
