The story of Smoolis began when sisters Despina and Christina Cosmoulis opened a web and graphic design agency in Zurich, Switzerland in 2009. Many of their Swiss customers, who operated their businesses in multiple languages, began asking the team to create multilingual online stores.
While most eCommerce platforms focused on large businesses, Despina and Christina couldn’t find a platform that fit the needs of the smaller merchants they served. That’s when they realized the pressing need to create a multilingual online website platform for artists, designers, makers, crafters, and small business owners.
Smoolis officially got its start in 2014, and today powers thousands of websites in many countries around the globe. In 2020, Smoolis expanded its website builder to support not only eCommerce websites but all types of websites for all types of businesses.
As the platform grows, one thing stays the same: Smoolis continues to be 100% founder-owned and is committed to evolving with new technology while adapting to new global changes and requirements.
